Bonita is the jurisdiction most often misjudged as fully online. It is not, and assuming otherwise costs a cycle.
What is different about Bonita Springs
- Only trade mechanical permits can currently be submitted online. The city's own site states all other permit types and licenses must still be submitted in person or by email.
- A Beach and Dune Permit is required for any modification seaward of the 1978 Coastal Construction Control Line.
- Sea turtle lighting standards apply to barrier-island permits involving outdoor lighting or glass.
- A new building permit fee schedule took effect January 1, 2026, and fire/EMS impact fees were scheduled to increase from May 4, 2026.
