Permits in Cape Coral.
Cape Coral runs one of the most fully-online intakes in the region, and has been tightening it steadily. If you are used to walking a paper application to a counter here, that route has closed.
What is different about Cape Coral
- Licensed contractors have been required to submit online since 2024.
- From July 1, 2026, owner-builders must also use the online portal; counter service for paper applications has ended.
- The city no longer issues its own contractor licensing. Contractors register their state license with the city and hold a Business Tax Receipt.
Review times
Cape Coral does not publish an official plan-review turnaround we are willing to quote. Figures circulating on aggregator sites are not sourced from the department, and we will not repeat them as if they were. We will tell you what we are currently seeing on live files here, and the department will confirm its own position.
Review times, fee schedules, forms and portals change, sometimes on a specific effective date. Everything on this page was verified on September 1, 2026. Confirm anything load-bearing with the department before you rely on it.
